After a long wait, fans of the Texas Rangers will soon be able to relive the franchise’s first-ever World Series championship.
“2023 World Series Champions: Texas Rangers” has been made available to pre-order on Amazon Prime, with a release date of 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. The documentary can be purchased for streaming for $12.99 in high definition or $9.99 in standard definition. There is not yet a release date for a DVD, Blu-Ray or otherwise physical copy of the documentary.
“The 2023 World Series film presents the story of the 1st World Series championship in Texas Rangers franchise history,” the Amazon synopsis says. “Manager Bruce Bochy led the Rangers to an unprecedented 11-0 postseason road record, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks four games to one behind the historically productive bats of Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia and shutout pitching in the Fall Classic clincher by Nathan Eovaldi.”
Amazon also released a trailer for the doc.
This is a bit of a delayed release of the story of the Rangers’ first championship, which the team clinched on Nov. 1 of 2023. The team that won it the season before Texas, the Houston Astros, had a documentary released on Apple TV+ before the end of 2022. Meanwhile the Dodgers, who just won the 2024 World Series a little over a month ago, are also due for an Apple TV+ documentary. But LA’s is a three-part miniseries that’s already in production, slated for a spring release, and is set to have none other than Oscar-winning director Ron Howard as an executive producer.
The difference might have something to do with the television ratings for the Dodgers-Yankees World Series nearly doubling that of the Rangers-Diamondbacks World Series.
But, for still-celebrating Rangers fans, it’s better late than never.
