Wawa gas station breaks ground in Pooler, bringing hundreds of jobs to Coastal Georgia

The Wawa gas station franchise is coming to Pooler and hundreds of jobs will be coming with it.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Wawa gas station and food mart was held today.

Attendees were able to sample food and drinks from their menu, and the Wawa mascot made an appearance.

This is one of the first Wawa stations in Georgia, with more locations planned including Brunswick and Jessup, set to open in late 2024.

Wawa had several reasons for choosing Coastal Georgia as one of their next expansion sites.

“Coastal Georgia for us made a lot of sense. Whether it be the growth from the ports, other logistics facilities, to homegrowth. But most importantly, the people here have roots. Their sense of community really aligns with Wawa’s values, so we’re just thrilled to be here in Pooler,” said John Poplawski, Chief Real Estate officer of Wawa.

Wawa plans to have 25 more stores in the next 5 years after this location.
