The Wayne County Board of Supervisors cut expected raises for more than a dozen positions after a heated debate earlier this month.
The original plan included pay hikes for roles like the county administrator, county attorney, and various attorneys. There were 17 positions included altogether. The Finger Lakes Times reported that Supervisor Kim Leonard led the move to strike these positions, raising legal questions.
Some of those who were set to receive a raise declared a conflict of interest, which prompted the Board to seek new legal counsel to review the decision. The debate is expected to be reignited at the Board’s August Government Operations meeting.
