Waynesboro business prepares for New Year’s Eve celebration

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) – People around the country will be ringing in 2025. While some prefer staying at home, others will be going out to celebrate.

Bottles in Waynesboro has made preparations for its New Year’s Eve celebration, which owner John Hayes said is its biggest event of the year.

This is the fourth year Bottles has hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration. Hayes said hundreds of people from around the region come to celebrate.

“It is a dance party, but we also offer a lot of other stuff going on at the same time. So, if you are not into dancing, we’ve got fire pits, we got outdoor karaoke, we will be doing a countdown inside and outside, we got a champagne toast at midnight,” Hayes said.

There is a lot of preparation that went into planning for the big event.

“Everything from making sure we have extra ice, that we have enough beer, that we have enough product, but then other things that people may not think about like enough propane tanks for our firepits and heaters so our folks can stay warm,” Hayes said.

Hayes said in 2024, the business introduced new technology: digital menu boards and a new online ordering system.

“With things like that online ordering system, even though that happened months ago, it is going to help us on New Year’s Eve. You can skip the massive lines that happen. We also sell tickets ahead of time, so people can get in faster, get their food faster, get their beer faster,” Hayes said.

There were other preparations that were made to make the night special.

“These past couple of weeks we have been getting ready for New Year’s, and we want it to be special. We went out and got brand new slate pool tables, so we now have two outdoor tables and two indoor tables for folks to play on,” Hayes said.

Other preparations included getting security for the event.

“We got a third-party security company that comes out and works with us and make sure everybody is safe, and we are one of the only places in town that does that, so making sure we have enough personnel here to make sure everyone is staying safe while having a good time is super important to us,” Hayes said.

Hayes said while this event is Bottles’ biggest, it’s also one staff look forward to every year.
