Purdue off their BYE week with an extra week of prep for the Fighting Irish is a very live dog Saturday afternoon.

Dundee’s Dog: Washington State Moneyline +168

(O/U 54.5) Washington State vs Washington (-5.5)

This year’s edition of the Apple Cup will be played at Lumin Field, Seattle Seahawks’ stadium. Washington State lost at Washington by a field goal last season. Those Huskies then played in the National Championship, then the roster and coaching staff suffered total turnover. Meanwhile the Cougars were ditched, left behind by the Power 4 conferences, and bring back a lot of 2024’s team ready to make a statement to the country.

This will be the ultimate revenge/get-up spot for John Mateer and the Cougars. Mateer, Wazzu’s Quarterback, currently has the 12th most rushing yards (252) in the nation, while averaging 13.1 yards per completion entering Week 3. WSU looked super impressive last week against Texas Tech who is much better competition than anything this brand new UW team has faced so far this season.

Dog #3: Old Dominion Moneyline +570

(-15.5) Virginia Tech at Old Dominion (O/U 47.5)

Virginia Tech has visited Old Dominion twice in history, the Hokies have lost both games outright. During Week 1 Old Dominion was a quarter away from pulling off an upset against South Carolina. The Monarchs are in a prime position to up-end Virginia Tech Saturday night.

One key to this game for ODU is to continue to limit Kyron Drones’ rushing ability. This season Drones has rushed for 32 yards on 32 attempts. Last year when this VT offense was humming they had Drones, a dual threat QB, leading the attack. Drones hasn’t been able to break off a good run this year and his throwing ability isn’t good enough alone to truly win his team a football game.

If the Monarchs can keep Drones bottled up, they have a great chance to win a low scoring contest and become 3-0 vs the Hokies in Norfolk.
