INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Two traveling thieves were arrested on Tuesday in connection to a series of thefts at Best Buys across Florida, deputies say.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) said Best Buy employees alerted deputies of two suspected shoplifters linked to a string of thefts from multiple locations. However, this time, deputies were waiting for 36-year-old Andrew Causa and 32-year-old Danielle Lorini.

Deputies waited outside the store until the two headed toward the parking lot. Body cam video provided by the sheriff’s office shows the encounter between deputies and their suspects.

Three brothers found safe in West Palm Beach, mother arrested for hiding them

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Police have confirmed the three brothers have been found safe and sound, more than a week after they reportedly went missing in West Palm Beach.

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) arrested their mother, Maria Trinidad Perez, 36, late Thursday afternoon.

Officers say Perez had been hiding her sons Nicholas Garnica Perez, 8, Gabriel Garnica Perez, 13, and Juan Pablo Garnica Perez, 16, the entire time.

4 alleged Port St. Lucie gambling operations raided, five arrested

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A two-month long investigation landed five people in the St. Lucie County jail last Friday when the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) raided four businesses accused of hosting illegal gambling operations.

The case began when someone told the police department about the quartet of businesses, which ran the gamut from a beauty salon to a minimarket, naming each specifically, PSLPD explained in a statement announcing the arrest.

New sign at library angers some homeless people

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — We have been covering the homeless crisis in downtown West Palm Beach for months.

There are dozens of homeless people who line the sidewalks on Clematis Street, which is a very busy popular destination for residents and tourists.

Now it appears the city is taking a step to try to move them away from that road, by putting up a sign on the front door of the Mandel Public library which is on Clematis Street.

People who visit the Mandel Public Library will now see a new sign on the front door, barring people from bringing in carts or large pieces of baggage.

Headlight out in the Keys leads to South Florida duo’s arrest with truck full of drugs

MARATHON, Fla. (CBS12) — A man from West Palm Beach and a woman from Plantation were arrested after they were found with a slew of drugs in the Florida Keys, deputies said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said the discovery happened just before midnight on May 10, Kylan Piper, 34, and Jaleesa DeSousa, 33, were stopped on U.S. 1 in Marathon in a Ford pickup truck since one of the headlights was out.

MCSO said deputies found a substantial amount of drugs in the car ranging from unmarked pills to ecstasy.

3 people and a puppy injured in drive-by shooting in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) released an image of the vehicle believed to be involved in a Sunday evening shooting that injured three people and a puppy.

Investigators describe the suspect vehicle as a newer model black Genesis sedan, either a G70 or a G80. The picture comes as the police department released more details Monday morning about the incident.

Earlier in the day, they confirmed a third person had been injured in the shooting, as well as a puppy that was struck in the leg. This latest shooting victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered a graze wound, the police department stated, and did not want to be treated by emergency responders.
