Weekend Entertainment | ‘Miracle ’… On Ice

Two holiday season staples will return this weekend to downtown Youngstown: “Miracle on Easy Street” and Disney On Ice.

Easy Street Productions will present “Miracle on Easy Street,” its shiny Christmas bauble, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Powers Auditorium.

The festive and frilly revue first appeared in 1990 and has since become a bona fide Youngstown tradition.

As always, the stage will be decked out like shiny toys under the tree while dozens of cast members – and cute kids – perform glitzy song and dance numbers. The fast-paced show never fails to lift spirits.

Easy Street co-founders Maureen Collins and Todd Hancock will again serve as hosts. Featured performers will include James McClellan, Colleen Chance, Katy Collins and Candace Campana. Cortney MacKay, a “Miracle” alumnus, will return as a soloist.

Musical director Don Yallech will lead the Easy Street Little Big Band. The dancers, led by choreographer Megan Cleland, are always a highlight.

Tickets range from $35 to $19 (plus fees) and can be purchased in advance HERE, by calling the DeYor box office at 330 259 9651 or at the box office before each performance.

Disney On Ice will skate into Covelli Centre tonight for the first of seven performances. 

This year’s show combines scenes and characters from two of Disney’s most recent film blockbusters, “Frozen” and “Encanto.” It will be a cold and hot combination of family entertainment.

Tickets range from $102 to $27 and can be purchased at the Covelli box office and Ticketmaster.com.

Performances will take place at 7 p.m. tonight and Friday; 11 a.m. and 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday.

There are many other seasonal family events this weekend, including Hometown Holidays in downtown Warren on Saturday.

The day will start with Candy Land Lane, featuring children’s movie characters, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Warren Public Library.

The holiday parade will start at 5 p.m. and will be followed by the tree lighting ceremony, Santa Claus visits and carriage rides.

There is a lot more on the schedule, including the dancing courthouse light shows at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.; music by Amanda Beagle Voice Studio at 6:30 p.m.; the Harding High choir at 8 p.m.; and an after-party with live music at the Scope Center starting at 8:30 p.m.

The event will also include children’s activities, ice sculptures, a holiday gift market and a few other things.

Warren will also play host to two interesting concerts this weekend.

Indigo Girls, the influential folk-rock duo, will be at Packard Music Hall at 7:30 p.m. The act is composed of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, who pioneered the dueling lead vocal harmonies that are a hallmark of their sound. 

Indigo Girls have been making music for four decades and have released 15 albums over that time. They told their own story on their most recent album, “Look Long,” released in 2020.
