Weekend Recap: RG Portimão World Challenge Cup; T&T Elite Challenge; Acro Burgas World Cup; PK Montpellier World Cup • USA Gymnastics
U.S. athletes earned a variety of medals in international and domestic competition over the weekend.
Acro Burgas World Cup
After three days of action, the U.S. women’s group of Mariam Tutberidze (Owings Mills, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer), Grace Vonder Haar (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) and Kayla Vonder Harr (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) won all-around bronze in group competition at the 2024 Burgas World Cup in Burgas, Bulgaria.
The trio scored a combined 27.120 to claim the bronze medal behind the Belgian group in first with a 29.980 and the Ukrainian group in second with a 28.300.
In pairs competition, Molly Fox (San Diego, Calif./So Cal TTC) and Katie Borcherding (Eureka, Mo./Incentive – AGT) landed just off the women’s podium in fourth with a 26.930. Belgium (28.250), Israel (28.090) and Ukraine (27.710) were first, second and third, respectively. The U.S. pair of Ariana Katsov (Owensville, Mo./Mid America Acro Tumbling) and Mo Arthur (Rolla, Mo./Mid America Acro Tumbling) was seventh in the final with a 25.980.
The men’s pair of Ethan Chang (Columbia, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) and David Vonder Haar (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) was eighth in their final with a 26.310. Kazakhstan was first (29.200), Azerbaijan second (28.510) and Israel third (28.030).
PK Montpellier World Cup
In their first competition of the season, U.S. parkour athletes claimed three top-10 rankings at the 2024 Montpellier World Cup in France.
Brittney Durant (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Aiden Rudolph (Boston, Mass.) each secured fifth-place finishes during finals at the World Cup. Durant was fifth in the women’s speed final with a time of 43.51 seconds, with Miranda Tibbling of Sweden taking first in 37.67 seconds. Rudolph placed fifth in the men’s freestyle final with a score of 28.200, with Nathanael Trier of France in first with a 31.70.
Two-time World Cup medalist Audrey Johnson (Greenville, S.C.) was sixth in the women’s speed final with a time of 44.24 seconds. Also in action were Calen Chan (Lehi, Utah), Dara De Paolo (Woodstock, Ga.), Matthew Hadley (Colorado Springs, Colo.), George Munro (Gilbert, Ariz.), Shea Rudolph (Boston, Mass.) and Michael Sliger (Broomfield, Colo.).

RG Portimão World Challenge Cup
Evita Griskenas (Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) and Lili Mizuno (Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) each competed in a final and were top 20 in the all-around at the 2024 Portimão World Challenge Cup in Portugal this past weekend.
In all-around competition, Griskenas (116.450) and Mizuno (115.650) were 17th and 18th, respectively, after two days of qualifications. Germany’s Darja Varfolomeev was first (135.700), independent athlete Alina Harnasko second (128.750) and Alba Bautista of Spain third (128.200).
Griskenas and Mizuno also each advanced to an apparatus final, with Griskenas placing sixth (28.850) in the ribbon final and Mizuno eighth (28.750) in the clubs final. Varfolomeev was first on both ribbon (31.900) and clubs (34.100).
T&T Elite Challenge
Trampoline and tumbling athletes were in Irving, Texas this weekend for the T&T Elite Challenge where nearly more than 40 gymnasts earned titles.
Among the hundreds of athletes competing at the competition, 14 junior and senior National Team members claimed titles over the weekend including Nicole Ahsinger , Paul Bretscher, Kaden Brown, Miah Bruns, Grace Danley, West Fowler, Lyric Gordon, Ryan Maccagnan, Ruben Padilla, Aliah Raga, Kennedi Roberts, Derek Ruehl, Aliaksei Shostak and Sarah Webster.
