EA Sports previews College Football 25
EA Sports is less than one month away from a big release. College Football 25 is being released in July, and developers gave us a little teaser. The decade-long wait makes EA Sports College Football 25 one of the year’s most anticipated video game releases.

It’s football time on PS5.
Knox News higher education reporter Keenan Thomas is having a really tough time at work today. His job, after getting his hands on an early copy of EA Sports College Football 25, is to lead Tennessee to victory while seeing just how accurately game developers portray Neyland Stadium and the Volunteers.
We’ll be updating this live blog throughout the day with our thoughts on the game, as well as with links to stories about the gameplay.
EA Sports College Football 25 is officially out July 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X for $69.99. This is the first college football video game since 2014 and was made possible, in part, by NCAA rules allowing players to make money off their name, image and likeness.
Matchups between Tennessee and Alabama are branded as “The Third Saturday In October.” Noticeably missing is the cigar-smoking celebration after leading Tennessee to victory. Fans do, however, hold up their “V-O-L” hand signs while signing along to “Rocky Top” in pre-kickoff animations.
The adorable Tennessee mascot cheers on the team from the sidelines throughout the game, and the real bluetick coonhound runs through the “T” prior to kickoff. So far, we haven’t seen the Davey Crockett mascot.
After selecting Tennessee as our favorite team, the main menu is customized with Volunteers imagery, including:
- An action photo of quarterback Nico Iamaleava
- A Tennessee foam finger and pennant
- Photos of Smokey, both the mascot and the bluetick coonhound
- A recreated ticket stub from Tennessee’s iconic victory over Alabama in 2022
- The hashtag #GBO
