West Point shuts out Waterloo/Valley 9-0

VALLEY — Colby Anderson pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the West Point Bombers to a 9-0 victory over the Waterloo/Valley Wingnuts in the first round of the Class B American Legion Juniors state tournament on Saturday.

Anderson struck out five and walked one. He threw 53 strikes and only 24 balls in the six-inning win.

West Point took the lead with two runs in the third and broke things wide open with five in the fourth. Elliot Reeson’s two-run single with the biggest hit of the inning.

Reeson finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run for the Bombers. Buck Steffen drove in two runs.

West Point (17-6) faces Alliance on Sunday at 7 p.m. in a winners bracket semifinal.
