Western Slope Iron and Supply celebrated its 50th anniversary this week with an open house with customers, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, trade partners and generations of owners.
With about 100 people in attendance Wednesday, the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the company’s half-century in business. The company’s founder, Jim Over, and his son and successor as owner, Jeff Over, joined current owner David Marsh for the celebration.
“For me, we have a resilient company that’s gone through a lot over the course of 50 years,” Marsh told The Daily Sentinel. “With really good employees, good customers and an emphasis on treating people the right way, we’ve been able to stay in business and be successful. We currently employ 65 Mesa County residents, so it’s a fairly large company, as well.”
Western Slope Iron and Supply is a steel fabrication company that has provided materials for local projects such as Community Hospital’s James Pulsipher Regional Cancer Center, the new Grand Junction High School, the new Orchard Mesa Middle School and the Lincoln Park Stadium Tower. The company also provides steel for projects around the state and even some out-of-state projects, such as an expansion of McCarran International Airport (now Harry Reid International Airport) in Las Vegas in the 2000s.
