Western Smokehouse Partners to open new plant, create 280 jobs in central Missouri – Missourinet

A local co-manufacturer of meat snacks has announced plans to open a new plant in central Missouri’s Mexico. Western Smokehouse Partners’ $67 million investment will create 280 jobs.

Gov. Mike Parson praised the news, saying that the company’s success is an example of the growth of Missouri’s manufacturing industry.

“First of all, I want to thank the legislative branch for their part in what they’ve played in this also,” he said. “If we hadn’t been allocated the funds to be able to bring businesses here, we wouldn’t be standing here today.”

The leading co-manufacturer of meat snacks will open a new manufacturing center by the end of summer 2025.

“This is why I want Mexico, why I want everybody in this room to understand how important this investment is,” Parson said. “The reason people don’t stay in them small towns, like where I came from, is because there’s no jobs, and nobody’s investing in those communities.”

The new center will span 300,000 square feet and specialize in the production of CHOMPS brand meat sticks. Western Smokehouse Partners began in northern Missouri’s Greentop as two companies in 1978.
