Westside, Harrisburg, Corning among state winners at 2024 Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Championships

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Northeast Arkansas high schools were on target over the weekend in Jacksonville.

Westside Red edged Cabot Red 121-118 to capture the 2024 Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Senior State Championship. The Warriors won 5 straight matches in bracket play to reach the finals, they missed just 4 clays in the title match. Jackson Parks, Hayden James, Cole Cureton, James Smith and Sam Sloan were on the victorious squad. They won $7,500 in scholarship money from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

A Harrisburg Hornet won the Champion of Champions individual title. Jordan Miller topped the field of 10 shooters in Jacksonville. Miller received a $2,500 scholarship from the Doyne and Nancy Williams Endowment with the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.

Corning captured their third Junior State Championship in the last four years. They edged Bald Knob in the final, Bryson Murray had a perfect score of 25 to give the Bobcats the tiebreaker. Christopher Scrogin won the Champion of Champions individual title. Jonesboro Trap Team Craighead Crushers finished in 3rd in the team standings.
