School closures in Kentucky: When JCPS decides to close due to weather
With help from the National Weather Service and school facilities, learn how JCPS handles student safety during adverse weather.
As a winter storm is set to impact Louisville, some local businesses are closing up shop for the day.
A winter storm watch is in effect for Louisville and several other counties in central Kentucky and southern Indiana until 7 p.m. Monday. The advisory warned of possible influx of snow, sleet and freezing rain mixtures in the area early Sunday through Monday afternoon, with snow accumulation of 6-10 inches and ice accumulations of more than .5 inches possible in the warning area.
Gov. Andy Beshear also declared a state of emergency Saturday ahead of the storm and urged all residents to prepare and stay off the roads as crews work to clear them following the system.
With some businesses choosing to close amid the inclement weather, we’ll keep you updated with the full list of closures as we learn of them.
