It’s been nearly
two years since OpenAI released ChatGPT – sending companies across nearly every
vertical scrambling to understand and implement the technology.
As part of that
process, many companies, including many in travel, initiated proofs-of-concept
to determine the best use cases.
It’s something
Greg Abbott, senior vice president of travel and hospitality for DataArt, has seen first hand
as his company has worked with dozens of clients across the industry to develop
PoCs for a wide range of purposes.”
Abbott
characterizes 2023 as “PoC mania” – with the majority not yet making it into
production, an indication these are still very early days in generative AI
development.
So what will it
take to make this technology more mainstream across travel? Abbott shares his
ideas, including the need to deal with technical debt and to have a modern data
platform that ensures data is clean, accessible and compliant.
