What to look out for at LA Fashion Week – Culted
LA Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow, so we’ve rounded up some of the designers showing and events happening to get excited about. Something a little bit different from the usual fashion weeks, LAFW is actually available to the public, so if you’re in Los Angeles, get yourself a ticket and go check it out. From cult NYC designer Theophilio’s return to the runway to Tribute Brand, a label specialising in virtual fashion, here’s what you need to look out for over the next few days.
Tribute Brand
The Croatian label that merges fashion with virtual technology, Tribute Brand, started out as a stance against fashion’s waste problem, creating virtual clothing that can be fitted on a photograph or by a digital avatar. The label’s LAFW presentation will bring an immersive experience where technology meets art.
Bruce Glen
Designers Bruce and Glen began their careers by launching celebrity brands for the likes of Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, before they turned to accessories and launched their own sustainable clothing line in 2021, which focuses on ethical and sustainable practices. Their SS25 LAFW immersive presentation is inspired by an American Sunday Service that includes a gospel choir and Cirque du Soleil performance.
Theophilio
We’ve missed NYC-based designer Theophilio on the runway during his hiatus, so when he made his comeback at NYFW this September, he didn’t let us down. Known for his fusion of Caribbean and New York City aesthetics, Theophilio celebrates the themes of migration, identity and pride through his sustainably crafted work. Now, he’s bringing his SS25 collection – inspired by his own experience and growing up in New York – to LAFW. Theophilio shows on Friday at 8pm PST.
R!O
After relaunching his label, R!O aka @rioworld at New York Fashion Week in September, designer Rio Uribe is coming to his hometown of LA to present his SS25 collection. R!O combines a vibrant palette of flowy, sporty streetwear with baggy, gender-fluid silhouettes to celebrate unity and individuality.
Ed Hardy
The y2k American label is making its comeback at LA Fashion Week, bringing the label’s iconic tattoo-inspired graphics and vintage streetwear aesthetic to the runway. Catch the show on November 14th at 7pm PST at W Hollywood’s The Loft.
House of Aama
The LA-based brand founded by mother-daughter duo Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka, House of Aama explores the Black experience through its designs that fuse a vintage vibe with modern silhouettes.
