Last season, Peters Township won the Section 2-4A boys soccer crown, finishing a game and a half ahead of Upper St. Clair.

Both the Indians and Panthers lost in the WPIAL Class 4A quarterfinals.

Now the Route 19 neighbors are tied for first place and are ready to square off for the first time in 2024 on Tuesday when Peters Township hosts Upper St. Clair.

Both teams have built an early two-game Section 2-4A lead with 3-0 section records.

The Panthers are 4-2-1 overall and have won three straight and yielded five goals all season.

The Indians are 6-1-1, winners of four in a row, and have only given up four goals this fall.

Another big boys soccer showdown Tuesday has Avonworth visiting Central Valley with first place in Section 2-2A up for grabs.

The Antelopes are 6-0 in the section, 6-1 overall, and have won four straight matches since their only loss of the season to Moon.

The Warriors are 5-0 in the section and a perfect 7-0 overall while outscoring their opponents 36-8 this season.

In Section 4-A boys soccer, Springdale (6-0) hosts Trinity Christian (4-1-1).

The Dynamos are 3-0 atop the section while the Falcons are tied for second place with Winchester Thurston (2-2-1) at 2-0-1.

Tuesday is a busy day of WPIAL girls volleyball section action, including some tiebreakers in Section 3-4A.

Hempfield has the early lead in the section with a 2-0 record while Connellsville sits at 0-2 after two section matches.

The other four teams in the section are all deadlocked at 1-1 and all four are set to square off Tuesday.

Plum (4-1) visits Penn-Trafford (2-4) and Latrobe (4-1) hosts Norwin (2-4).

The top spot in Section 3-3A is on the line when Ringgold visits Thomas Jefferson.

The Rams are in first place with a 4-0 section record, a half-game ahead of both the Jaguars and Laurel Highlands.
