What’s being built along Richmond Street, north of Meijer and Interstate 41 in Grand Chute?
GRAND CHUTE — If you took Richmond Street north of Interstate 41 last week, you may have noticed a construction site east of North Galaxy Drive, and north of Meijer, Kwik Trip and the new Johnson Bank offices.
This site made The Post-Crescent’s recent “developments to watch” list, so here’s what we know so far.
The construction site at 4150 N. Galaxy Drive will be part of a new Odyssey Climbing + Fitness – Appleton gym, according to Ben Ganther, CEO and co-founder.
The 18,000-square-foot facility will feature an extensive indoor climbing area, including ropes and bouldering climbing.
The 42-foot-high roped climbing walls will be equipped with over 60 different lanes with roped belay bars. The gym will also offer bouldering — another type of climbing with shorter walls and no ropes, Ganther said.
The center will also come equipped with fitness facilities, including cardio machines, free weights, dumbbells and kettlebells, and offers a variety of fitness classes.
It is not only open to young professionals, but also aims to serve families. Ganther said the center provides everything from birthday celebrations and summer camps to competitive climbing teams.
This is the first climbing club of its kind coming to the Fox Cities.
The gym is expected to open between May and June and is going to hire 20 staff members, Ganther added.
