Sakura Smith, or Bagel Bunny to devoted fans of her fermented bagels, has a closet full of vintage and thrifted pieces she has collected over time from friends, family members, and stores like Cobblestones in the East Village, her favorite spot for hats. “Something feels so wrong about shopping on your phone, so I don’t online-shop a lot,” Smith says. “I like shopping in person. I have to try stuff on, and I don’t want to buy something that doesn’t fit well.”

Although she considers herself in a style-inspiration rut at the moment, she often turns to her friends for inspiration: “I have friends who dress so well. I just ask them where to buy things.” Another thing that guides her style is her career. “I don’t dress for an office every day, so getting ready is different,” Smith says.

She also loves to people-watch. “My inspiration is either really old people or really young people. They’re not fazed by how we’re ‘supposed’ to dress,” She says. “I like the freedom.”

Below, see where Smith got the pieces that made it into her curated wardrobe and home.

Don Quijote is this chaotic Japanese drugstore I went to in Kyoto and bought this hand cream I keep on my nightstand. It’s water-based and hydrating as hell. I have one of the Kartell storage compartments as a nightstand. Everyone has it, but it’s so cute. You can hold everything in there.

I wash my face with an oil cleanser from GingerChi and a Japanese powder face wash and then my normal skin-care routine. Moisturizer — I like Skin Food or Flora Fix Balm by the Beauty Chef. I like the Biologique masks, and my dermatologist recommended this glycolic peel by Epicuren. I try not to do too much to my face.

My shrug from Buci. It’s my friend’s brand. I feel safer with my arms covered. I wear it with anything. You can wear it with a tank top or a slip dress. She made me one with a little fur on the sleeves, so it’s really cute.

My cheetah shoes are my favorite — I can’t remember where I bought them. They’re the perfect height, and I’ve worn them with sweatpants; they just elevate anything. I have no complaints — I wish I had a million pairs. Right now, I’m wearing the Onitsuka Tigers in silver and black. They’re so comfy and light. I’m walking so much and trying to wear sneakers more. I think my next shoe is going to be the Nike Cortez.

My friend Olivia made me this flower doll. We went to Parsons, and we used to live together in this carriage house down an alley in this house built in the 1800s. She decided to make these little dolls, and she hand-stitched them. She made a huge one that I have and a smaller one. It’s really sweet; it always makes me happy to see it.

A tortilla press. My friend asked if I wanted to do a taco night, and I thought we must have homemade tortillas. I used to date this guy who thought a tortilla press was the most important thing you could have in your house, and I think that’s so dramatic, but I never forgot it. I think about it all the time. We made tortillas once, but it was so much fun. I live near this place, and their tacos are so good because the tortillas are fresh, and it just changes the whole game. I try to be as simple in the kitchen as possible. I use my microplane a lot, and I got a rolling pin recently that has measurements on the side so you can measure the dough as you roll it out, which is so helpful.

My aunt gave me two mink coats. She got them from her ex-girlfriend, and they were her grandmother’s. My aunt never wore them; she lives in California, so she gave them to me and I wear them whenever I can in the winter. It feels so classy when I wear it. I can wear anything under it and it still looks good.

I don’t have a signature scent, but I have a favorite deodorant. You can buy it from the Detox Market — it’s like a bourbon scent, but it doesn’t smell like it. It’s the only natural one I think works, and I bought it for my dad. I get distracted when I have a scent on, but I think I will do essential oils. I also like the juniper oil from GingerChi. I made a candle for fun and used the body oil. I like hinoki incense; we burn palo santo in the house. Not to sound so L.A., but someone bought me an Erewhon candle, and it smells so good.

I have a bunch of my mom’s stuff from high school. It’s this old Dr. Martens sweater, and it’s falling apart, so I try not to wear it so much. My childhood house burned down, so I took all of these things with me to California. It was amazing that I had kept these things. She was mad at first, but then she was grateful.

John Derian. I love their paper flowers but can’t justify paying that much for it. Everything is handmade and gorgeous. They have plates and candles that look like food; you can find anything in there. There’s magic in there. I bought a box of chocolate from their collaboration with Louis Sherry, and they come in these stunning tin boxes.

I got my camouflage jacket in Montana. I was fly-fishing with my family, and we went to thrift stores. One has an Army section in the back, and I got it there and have worn it every single day.

Brazeau Tricot. They make the best layering pieces ever. They have all these silk dresses and sweaters in different sizes and shapes, so you can mix. I have dresses, sweaters, and skirts from them. Everything is so flexible.

My friend’s construction company. We were looking for a couch, and we didn’t really know where to get one and then Drew said maybe we should make one. We have a friend who has a construction company called Serious Construction Company, and we just sent measurements and got this beautiful wooden couch.

Dashwood. Someone who works there recommended it. Drew wanted this book, so I bought it for him. Then someone mentioned there was also a show with the photographer’s work, and he surprised me with it before we went, and it’s really beautiful. Now that’s hanging in our bedroom. It’s a black-and-white photo of a woman walking through the streets; I like to look at it and imagine and wonder if these things are still here.
