Where is the next Winter Olympics? Where to spot cold-weather competitions in 2026.
The 2026 Winter Olympics are set to make history in several ways.
Geographically, it’ll be the most sprawling Winter Games in Olympic history, according to the International Olympic Committee. For the first time, the Games will be held across two cities, two regions and two autonomous provinces.
Athletes will go for gold in skiing, bobsleigh, curling, skating, snowboarding, luge and other cold-weather competitions. They’ll also be debuting a new winter sport – ski mountaineering.
Looking ahead to this year’s Summer Games in Paris, here’s everything we know about the next Winter Olympics.

The Paralympic Games will occur from March 6-15.
Where will the 2030 Winter Olympics be?
The IOC hasn’t named a host city for the 2030 Winter Olympics yet. This delay gives the committee more time to address challenges like warmer temperatures and vanishing snow in places increasingly affected by climate change, USA TODAY previously reported.
How often are the Winter Olympics?
The Winter Olympics occur every four years, paying homage to their origins. In ancient Greece when the Games first began, a period of four years was called an “Olympiad.”
The Summer Games follow the same tradition, alternating with the Winter Games so audiences watch the Olympics every two years.
