Who is hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards 2024?
For the first time in the ceremony’s history, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will have virtual presenters on Saturday. The entertainment-industry gala’s 2024 edition will be co-hosted by the cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and his sidekick Patrick Star (Bill Fagerbakke).
SpongeBob marking a quarter of a century on TV
SpongeBob SquarePants is the central character in the popular animated TV series of the same name, which this month celebrates the 25th anniversary of its debut on the small screen. The show has won more Kids’ Choice Awards than any other production, with a total of 20 accolades.
And SpongeBob SquarePants, a show set in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom, is in contention to add to that tally this weekend: the series is among the six contenders for the Favorite Cartoon Award.
This weekend’s Kids’ Choice Awards ceremony “will take place in an animated setting through enhanced graphics and advanced augmented reality”, Nickelodeon said in May, in a statement announcing SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star as the co-hosts.
Kenny added: “From its first splash, SpongeBob has resonated with people of all ages, and I’m truly grateful to celebrate 25 years of positivity, optimism, and nautical nonsense. Our entire cast and crew look forward to celebrating SpongeBob’s Silver Jubilee with our friends and fans across the globe!”

2024 Kids’ Choice Awards: how to vote
The winners of the Kids’ Choice Awards are chosen by an online public vote on the Nickelodeon website. Voters aren’t limited to casting a single ballot in each category. “Vote once, vote twice, vote a hundred gazillion times,” the Kids’ Choice organisers say. “It’s the only awards show where kids can help us choose the winners, so your votes are SUPER important to us!”
