Svitlana Indelicato, a 50-year-old fashion designer based in Brooklyn, was found dead in her New York City home on Thursday, as reported by the NY Post, citing law enforcement sources. Her husband found her unresponsive in a room and alerted the authorities. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene. Initial reports suggest that a scarf was wrapped around her neck, with the NYPD describing her injuries as “trauma” to the neck. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. As of Friday, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Who was Svitlana Indelicato?
Svitlana Indelicato was known for designing handbags, scarves, and Pashmina shawls. She sold her creations on her Etsy shops, VitalTemptation for bags and ScarfObsession for scarves. She resided in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, at a home on 80th Street near 16th Avenue.
In describing her work on LinkedIn, Indelicato wrote, “I work with wool, silk and other natural fibers using very unique and almost forgotten techniques while creating my designs. I use felting, [which] is an ancient textile art, where manipulating wool, warm soapy water and rolling, squeezing and rubbing creates a very special one-of-a-kind piece.”
No information was available about her family at this time. The family is yet to release a statement.
