Whoopi Goldberg Comes To Harrison Butkers Defence Amid Backlash

Whoopi Goldberg has defended Chiefs player Harrison Butker after he received backlash for his commencement speech at Benedictine College.  Goldberg showed support for Butker on her show ‘The View,’ saying, “I have the right to say what I say, he has the right to say what he says.” “When you say to somebody, ‘I don’t like what you said and I’m going to get your job taken away because you disagree with me,’ for me, that is an issue,” explained Goldberg. The Chiefs kicker’s speech has been described as demeaning towards women and the LGBTQ+ community and inappropriate for a graduation. A petition for Butker’s dismissal from the Chiefs has nearly reached its goal of 150,000 signatures.  In a statement, the NFL said that Butker’s views “are not those of the NFL as an organization.”
