Pro-Maga fashion designer Andre Soriano was recently issued a court order mandating the removal of posters endorsing Donald Trump from his boutique in Occoquan, Virginia, following a complaint from a local woman dubbed “Democrat Karen” by the media.
The Filipino-American designer told the media that the woman had been pleasant initially, but grew agitated on seeing the pro-Trump posters and dresses designed by Soriano at his boutique. She then reportedly hid herself in a bush – before crying and calling the police. An officer later escorted her away.
Soriano, 54, is a loud and proud Trump supporter. In 2017, he designed the Make America Great Again gown that singer-songwriter Joy Villa donned for the Grammy Awards.
“As an American citizen, as a First Amendment in our great nation, you can express yourself by putting your signs in your home and expressing who you are as an individual, whether it’s religion, whether it’s politics or anything that you feel, without harming anyone,” he told the Daily Mail. “That’s just the freedom of artistic expression and being free in America, and nowadays, you can’t even express that.”
Here’s everything you need to know about the pro-Maga designer, who’s worked with celebrities such as Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
Andre Soriano’s family emigrated from the Philippines
As a young child, Soriano emigrated from the Philippines to the United States with his family of four. His love for design stemmed from his mother Josephine, who designed clothes for the family, according to Soriano’s website. She was the first to teach him the basics of making clothes and introduced him to the arts and theatre.
