Wichita businesses offer guidance on saving money when back-to-school shopping

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Back-to-school shopping can be difficult for families with financial struggles.

“A lot of families do struggle at this time because (they’re) trying to figure out how to get the school supplies,” Kid to Kid assistant manager Sherry Loghry said.

With classes just around the corner, resale stores like Kid to Kid hope to be a financially viable option for families in the area.

“Sometimes you don’t want to go out there and spend like $20 on a shirt of $15 here or there,” Loghry said.

That’s why people like Julie Johnson, owner of Central Kansas Kids Consignment, are opening resale stores in their communities.

“To provide parents with an affordable way to shop, to provide parents that opportunity when their kids grow,” Johnson said. “Because that’s a constant — kids are always going to grow.”

People like Johnson are all trying to help out anywhere they can.

“It’s just a lot all at one time for parents,” she said. “So I hope to ease that burden.”
