Wild hammer fight erupts at shopping centre
Dramatic footage has emerged of two men brawling on escalators at a Central Coast shopping centre.
People could be heard yelling as one man, who has a T-shirt covering his head, swings a hammer at the other man who is throwing punches.
A trolley full of groceries could be seen parked nearby as the two men fought.
The incident took place at the Lake Haven Central shopping complex in NSW about 10.15am on Sunday.
Police were called to the shopping centre after receiving reports there was an altercation involving two men, but the men had fled the scene before they arrived.
A police spokesperson said the men were believed to be aged in their 30s and 50s.
Following an investigation, a man, 36, was arrested at Wyong Police Station on Sunday.
“The man was charged with affray and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence,” the spokesperson said.
The man was refused bail and was due to appear in the Wyong Local Court on Monday.
He is due to reappear before the court on October 16.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
