The Schley County Wildcats (SCHS) heated up their bats and dominated their way to a 13-0 shut out victory over Manchester on Wednesday at Wildcat Park.

SCHS scored four runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning and took advantage of a walk and a wild pitch. The Wildcats had two big hits in the inning, both of them RBI triples coming off the bats of Carlee Zanders and Olivia Tibbett. Zanders drove in Emma Sizemore to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Wildcats and Tibbett drove in two more runs on an RBI triple to increase the SCHS lead to 4-0.

Then in the bottom of the second, the Wildcats exploded for six more runs on six hits. With runners at first and second and nobody out, Laney Dew belted a double to center filed, scoring two runs. Two batters later, Chloe Palmer tripled to left field, scoring two more runs and making the score 8-0 in favor of the Wildcats. Later on in the inning, Olivia Tibbett drove in another run on an RBI single and Emmalyn Snyder followed that up with an RBI single of her own to give the Wildcats a 10-0 lead.

SCHS (2-3) was still not done, however, as the Wildcats would add three more runs in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Palmer doubled to left field and Kenlee Lightner drove in another run on an RBI single. Lightner would later score when Tibbett reached on an error and Jacey Conner would later reach on another error, allowing Tibbett to score and completing the 13-0 shut out.

Both Palmer and Tibbett went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the Wildcats’ offense. Palmer scored two runs and drove in three RBIs and Tibbett drove in three RBIs and scored a run.

Palmer got the start in the circle for the Wildcats and got the win. She pitched four scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out four batters.
