The event will benefit the Will Bright Foundation, which was founded in memory of Will Bright who died from a heroin overdose in 2012 and works to help people bridge the gap from recovery centers back to everyday life.

“Where Will always struggled was taking that next step so when we started the foundation we knew that’s where we would spend a lot of our time,” Trussville City Councilor Lisa Bright said.

Attendance is free to the public, but Bright said they are accepting for donations, adding that the foundation raised $28,000 at last year’s event.

The funds raised will go toward scholarships and foundation programs including Restoration Springs, which provides housing, transportation, and peer support to people in recovery.

“We help provide that segue for them to get into a really meaningful, good paying job and that they can feel good about themselves,” Bright said.

The foundation is also active in legislation advocacy in Washington, D.C., most recently supporting the NOPAIN Act, which will expand access to non-opioid pain management options.

Ferus will also be doing a round up through the month of August to donate to the foundation.

Janice Rogers will be emceeing the event, which will also feature a 50/50 raffle, giveaways, and VIP tickets.

“She’s always a ton of fun, very energetic,” Bright said. “She has addiction stories in her family and so she shares that same passion that we do.”

Rockin’ for Restoration will start at 6 p.m., and attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
