Will Mikaela Shiffrin win her 100th World Cup at Killington? Audi FIS Ski World Cup is on

Here’s where the best ski conditions will be in the United States this winter

Whether you ski in the West, Midwest or the East this winter, you’ll be able to find good conditions somewhere.

Despite the unseasonably warm temperatures and lack of precipitation so far this fall, the women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup at Killington Resort will go forward next week.

The resort this week received a “positive snow control announcement” from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, the governing body of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, according to a release.

The release from the ski resort added that the news means Killington Resort “can assure international race teams and ski racing fans traveling to central Vermont for Thanksgiving weekend that both the giant slalom and slalom races will take place as scheduled (next week).”

Warm temperatures has caused concern prior to the announcement.

“It was a real battle with Mother Nature this year, but once again our superstar snowmaking team was able to fire up 125 snowmaking guns to lay down enough snow for a world-class show next weekend,” Killington President and CEO Mike Solimano said in a written statement. “We were able to take advantage of our fleet of new low-energy snow guns and the new fan guns installed this summer to pull off this feat and I can’t wait for the best athletes in the world to join us for an incredible weekend of ski racing action. There’s even a chance Mikaela Shiffrin will notch her 100th win on the slopes.”

Here’s what to know about the Audi FIS Ski World Cup, which is also known as the “Stifel Killington Cup.”

Who is Mikaela Shiffrin?

According to Olympics.com, in the 2022/23 season, the American skiing star “broke Lindsey Vonn’s women’s World Cup wins record of 82 before eclipsing Ingemar Stenmark’s overall mark of 86 which had stood for 34 years.

“Her tally of 53 World Cup slalom race triumphs is the most by a skier in a single discipline, 13 clear of Stenmark. … She has every chance of realising Stenmark’s prediction that she will record at least 100 World Cup race victories.”

And that could happen at Killington next weekend.
