Willoughby police: 3 behind bars after apartment gunfire, attempted business break in

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) – Willoughby police said three people suspected this week in back-to-back crimes are now behind bars.

According to police, the suspects allegedly attempted to break into a business, just hours before a shots fired incident at nearby apartments.

Officers said they were first called out around 11 p.m. Tuesday to the business on Lost Nation Road for an alarm.

The suspects were long gone, but police found surveillance video footage and a hole punched through a front windowpane.

Then around 3 a.m. Wednesday, officers said they responded to an apartment complex off Lost Nation Road for six to eight shots fired.

While they were there investigating, police said one officer reported hearing gunfire in his direction but was not hit.

According to police, they searched for the suspect for over an hour without finding anyone.

But, the very same day, officers said they located a possible suspect walking on Lost Nation Road, who led them to two others.

Police did not name the three people arrested, and said they are at the Lake County Jail.

The weapon used in the shots fired incident was recovered by police.
