Windstar Cruises is All About Travel Advisor Appreciation

Windstar Cruises is rolling out several initiatives to celebrate National Travel Advisor Appreciation Day on May 1.

“During Travel Advisor Appreciation Month, we are celebrating the contributions of our advisor partners,” says Dianna Rom, Windstar’s Vice President of Sales, in a press statement. “Advisors are very successful in bringing new-to-cruise guests to the brand, which is something we’ve been seeing in large numbers since the cruise industry opened back up in 2021. Their expertise enriches the experiences of travelers and helps ensure happy guests sailing on our ships.”

Yep, you read that right. Travel advisors making new bookings or completing Windstar’s online training in May can win one of four complimentary cruises. The giveaway is structured to reward more entries for bookings further into the future: five entries for each new booking in 2024 during May and two entries for each new booking for 2025 and beyond. Additionally, completing the Star Specialist Online Learning Program in May will score you a whopping five entries.

But wait, there’s more: A special bonus is also in place for the month of May. Travel advisors can earn an additional $100 commission for each cabin they book for guests new to Windstar.

And, come summer, Windstar has two huge pluses: Effective June 2024, booking commission payments will be advanced to 29 days prior to the cruise’s departure date. Secondly (also effective June), travel advisors dedicating time to becoming Windstar Cruises Star Specialists can now recoup their eligible FAM trip costs as a future commission payment.

“Travel advisors are vital to our success at Windstar,” said Windstar Chief Commercial Officer Janet Bava in a press statement.  “We are happy to report that with a major upgrade on our reservation system nearly complete, we’ll be able to pay commissions to our advisors earlier. Our valued partners have requested this in our conversations, and now we’ll be able to fulfill it. Our success is tied together, and we must support each other.”

The cruise line is also set to launch a consumer campaign emphasizing the benefits of booking through travel advisors. The fleet, known for its boutique sailing and all-suite yachts accommodating 148-342 guests, will be expanding with two new small ships slated for December 2025 and December 2026.
