Winter weather advisory in effect, freezing drizzle and fog create hazardous travel
(WLUK) — Tricky travel conditions expected over portions of Northeast Wisconsin Thursday.
A Winter Weather Advisory was issued early Thursday morning, and will remain in effect until Noon Thursday.
Areas under the advisory include Central and Northeast Wisconsin. Counties locally include Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, Oconto, Shawano, Calumet, Waupaca, Waushara, and Menominee. Areas along the lakeshore are not under this advisory.
Areas under the advisory to see patchy freezing drizzle Thursday morning, resulting in slippery to icy road conditions. Freezing drizzle is light precipitation that falls and freezes on contact with surface, which can result in a glaze of ice.

Untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks will become slippery , even as temperatures rise above freezing. Risk for ice continues for Northern Wisconsin overnight into early Friday.
Fog will also be a concern beginning Thursday morning through Saturday. Warmer air flowing into the region while snowpack remains on the ground locally will result in fog. Expect dense fog to develop for some areas, with visibilities dropping to under a quarter-mile.
If you have plans to hit the roads Thursday, drive slowly, increase following distance, use low-beam headlights, and avoid sudden braking.
