Woman arrested following violent disturbance at Colorado Springs business

A woman was arrested Thursday afternoon in Colorado Springs after breaking into a business, attempting to assault employees and threatening police, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police said they received reports of the assault, in the 3000 block of North Chestnut Street, at 3:40 p.m. Thursday.

Officers on the scene learned the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Kayla Hofer, allegedly damaged property and then attempted to assault employees with a shard of glass.

Hofer told the employees she would kill the police if they responded to the scene, officials said.

According to police, as officers arrived on the scene, Hofer armed herself with shards of glass and refused police commands.

“The suspect was tased and taken into custody,” police said.

According to officials, Hofer could face multiple charges, including assault on a peace officer in the first degree, attempted assault in the first degree, felony menacing, and criminal mischief.
