Woman awarded $1.2M after Walmart employee struck her with a shopping cart
JASPER, Ga. (WKRC) – A woman was awarded $1.2 million after a Walmart employee struck her with a shopping cart.
According to WSB-TV, a woman from Atlanta was awarded a $1.2 million verdict after she was struck by a shopping cart by a Walmart employee. Per the station, Tammy Callihan was at a Walmart location in 2020 when she was struck by the employee.
Per the outlet, Callihan suffered injuries to her neck and back and aggravated a pre-existing disc herniation that required spinal surgery.
“We’re pleased the jury recognized the impact the severe injuries had on Ms. Callihan’s life. She now experiences daily, recurrent pain that limits the activities of her daily life, including holding her grandchildren and walking her dog. I’m proud we were able to secure justice for our client and provide her with some peace of mind as she moves forward with her life,” Morgan & Morgan attorney Robert Fickett, per WSB-TV.
According to the station, attorneys for Callihan initially declined a $350,000 settlement offer from Walmart.
