Woman’s Department Club hosts Enchanted Garden fashion show, raising funds for building

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – With the Woman’s Department Club approaching 100 years old, a fashion show and garden party luncheon are being held to raise funds for the historic building.

On Sept. 26, the Woman’s Department Club (WDC) is hosting a ‘A Style for All Seasons Fashion Show & Garden Party Luncheon’ with The Enchanted Garden at the WDC building, 802 Margaret Place, Shreveport.

The fundraising event is being held to assist with the upkeep of the historic WDC building. The WDC club is approaching its 100th year in 2025. WDC theatre was built in 1925 and hosts concerts, performances, weddings, conferences, events, and meetings.

The Woman’s Department Club was established by Shreveport women who wanted to promote literacy and education among women during the suffrage movement. The nonprofit organization still promotes the advancement of women in society and provides a place for socializing and establishing friendships. WDC is also partnered with the Louisiana Grandstand music company.

Apparel from The Enchanted Garden will be the highlight of the fashion show.

Catering for the event will be provided by Chef Cindy Gleason Johnson of Southern Faire.

Garden party attire and hats are encouraged for the event.

Door Prizes will be available and a silent auction will be held to benefit the WDC.
