Women’s Tennis Travels to Ohio State for ITA Regionals – Illinois State University Athletics

COLUMBUS, OH.– Silvia Pomarolli and Lana Caculovic of the ISU women’s tennis team will travel to Ohio State University for the ITA Midwest Regionals on Oct 10-14. This weekend’s tournament will be the second road match of the 2024-25 fall season. The Birds will look to continue success from last weekend’s MVC Individual Championships.

THE FIELD

This weekend’s competition will feature a total of 18 schools. This includes Illinois State (MVC), Bowling Green (MAC), Bradley (MVC), DePaul (BIG EAST), Eastern Michigan (MAC), Illinois (B1G), Marquette (BIG EAST), Michigan (B1G), Michigan State (B1G), Northern Illinois (MAC), Northwestern (B1G), Notre Dame (ACC), SIUE (OVC), Toledo (MAC), Valparaiso (MVC), Western Michigan (MAC), Wisconsin (B1G) and Youngstown State (Horizon).

LAST TIME OUT

The Redbirds took 12 singles victories and two doubles wins at this year’s MVC Individual Championships. Elena Jankulovska and Sanz recorded a win on day two of the tournament over UIC. Meanwhile, Silvia Pomarolli, Lana Caculovic, Elena Jankulovska, Nicole Iosio, Sophie Marie Lowe, Zoe Limparis and Sanz all tacked on one or more winning decisions over the three days of competition.

NURIA GOES BACK-TO-BACK

Nuria Sanz claimed her first title of the new season at the MVC Individual Championships last weekend, claiming the Flight Three championship at No. 3 singles. At last year’s MVC Individual Championships, Sanz took home the Flight 5 title.
