We have entered mid-May and the Seacoast is blooming with life and entertainment. This weekend head to Greenland for The History of Walter Burn’s Memorial Fishing Day for special needs children, attend the second annual Woods, Whales & Waterfest in Portsmouth, or enjoy the 2024 Exeter Arts & Music Fest.

Sapphic Factory: a modern queer joy dance party

What: Come dance and be free to the music of Muna, Fletcher, Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius, Kim Petras, Marina, Elio, Ashnikko, Girl in Red, Tegan and Sara, and more. The Sapphic Factory: queer joy party has partnered with PLUS1 so $1 per ticket goes to supporting the LGBT national help center.

The Walter Burn’s Memorial Fishing Day for special needs children

What: The Piscataqua Fish and Game Club initiated the Walter Burn’s Fishing Day for Special Needs Children with food, games, medals, trophies, a stock pond, rods and more. 

When: Friday, May 17, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Sanderson’s Pond, Greenland

Rye Driftwood Garden Club annual plant sale

What: From sun-loving blooms to shade-dwellers, pollinator favorites to fragrant herbs, and everything in between, this plant sale offers a treasure trove of botanical delights at affordable prices.

When: Friday, May 17, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m.-noon.

Woods, Whales & Waterfest

What: The second annual Woods, Whales, & Water festival will feature Blue Ocean Society’s life-size blow-up whale, “Ladder.” The Gundalow Company will be at the Education Center and on Sagamore Creek leading kayak exploration.

When: Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Tributary Brewery and the Blue Buddha Band team up to support Creeksmart

What: Tributary is hosting a concert by Paul Hodes and the Blue Buddha Band. Hodes, a former New Hampshire Congressman is a lifelong songwriter and guitarist. He calls the band an original “old school Rock ‘n’ Roll” band, a little retro, a little folk, all rock. Tributary will be highlighting the release of their Gose, an ancient Hefeweizen style beer. Fox Point Oysters of Little Bay, NH, part of Great Bay estuary, will be shucking.
