Workforce Solutions and Texas FAME expand to create more skilled jobs

SAN ANTONIO – Two organizations are joining forces to pave the way for young individuals to embark on rewarding careers in manufacturing, starting with a partnership at the Toyota plant.

Workforce Solutions and the Texas Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (Texas FAME) are focused on cultivating the next generation of skilled manufacturing workers.

As part of this initiative, they are expanding their outreach to include more businesses in the region.

Joe Esparza, Commissioner of Texas Workforce Solutions, emphasized the importance of investing in the workforce:

“Once they start understanding that there is emphasis on investing in the workforce, that really brings more and more businesses.”

In collaboration with Alamo Colleges, the program offers students a unique opportunity to balance education with practical experience.

Participants will attend classes two days a week while gaining hands-on experience in the field for three days, allowing them to earn a living while learning.

“Unfortunately, I think a lot of people in our region aren’t aware of the best opportunities for jobs in manufacturing. These careers not only offer growth potential but also allow individuals to provide for their families with great benefits,” said a program representative.

Currently, Texas FAME boasts 16 member companies within its Alamo chapter, including the Toyota plant located on the south side of San Antonio.

Both Workforce Solutions and Texas FAME are optimistic that initiatives like this will significantly boost San Antonio’s economy in the coming years.
