A 37 year old soap opera actor and fitness influencer, Barbara de Regil, is being brutally slammed on the internet for a video. In the post, which was later deleted, Barbara can be seen doing a full body workout in the aisle of a plane.
Barbara explained that she felt like she was going ‘crazy’ sitting on the for 35 hours. So to make herself feel better she decided to stretch her muscles. However, instead of opting for light stretches or a leisurely walk, de Regil chose a high-energy, multi-step workout. Her routine included running in place and performing squat jumps, all while dressed in pajamas and wearing an eye mask. Her husband, too, can be seen in the video, but he sits there unfazed by her wife’s behavior.

Some netizens didn’t appreciate this. One commented, “This ridiculous lady has already won the Idiot of the Year award.” While another wrote that they might have gone to the back of the plane to stretch a little and not exercise in the aisle, disturbing other people. A third user commented, “Planes don’t have showers, she must stink.”

While the comment section was filled with criticism, some were understanding too. One user said, “Movement is extremely good for you and healthy for you when you’re flying so often. I learned this because I used to fly a lot for work and I started having issues with water retention and cramping.” A second user said, “35 hours!? I would be moving too.”

De Regil dismissed the criticism, explaining that she finds it difficult to remain seated for extended periods. Responding to a screen capture of her Instagram story shared by La Razón Mexico, she commented, “The movements you see, hahaha, are to prevent thrombosis. Also, I don’t know about you, but I can’t sit still for that long.” She further wrote, ““I think more are bothered by the one who snores than the one who moves – besides first of all the space is big.”

What is Deep Vein Thrombosis(DVT)?

According to the American Society of Hematology, Blood clots, also known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), can form in your legs during air travel due to prolonged immobility. The risk of developing a DVT increases with the length of the flight, and is higher for people with pre-existing risk factors.
