World Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament 2024 2: Get schedule and watch live streaming in India

The second and final World Boxing Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics gets underway in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.

India’s 10-member boxing squad will be led by Tokyo Olympian Amit Panghal, who will compete in the men’s 51kg category. Live streaming of the final four days will be available in India on Olympics.com.

Each country can obtain a maximum of one boxing quota per weight category for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

India secured four Olympic quotas at the Asian Games through Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75kg), two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen (women’s 50kg), Preeti Pawar (women’s 54kg) and Parveen Hooda (women’s 57kg).

However, India lost one quota after Parveen Hooda was suspended for whereabouts failures last week.

Jasmine Lamboria, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, will contest again for the women’s 57kg quota. She competed in the women’s 60kg at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Italy but could not progress beyond the first round.

In Bangkok, countries can only enter boxers in the specific weight categories in which they have not already obtained a quota.

India’s squad for the Paris Olympics boxing qualifier in Thailand includes seven men and three women.

Along with Amit Panghal, the Indian men’s boxing squad includes the Asian Games bronze medallist Narender Berwal and World Championship bronze medallist Nishant Dev.

Former youth world champion Ankushita Boro, Arundhati Choudhary and Jaismine Lamboria are the three Indian women boxers slated to compete.

Nishant Dev, Narender Berwal and Ankushita Boro also competed at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in March but the nine-member Indian contingent had returned empty-handed from Busto Arsizio, Italy.

The Bangkok meet will have 51 Olympics quotas – 28 in the men’s and 23 in women’s categories – up for grabs.

Nine weight divisions will each offer four quotas. Three quotas will be available in the women’s 60kg, men’s 57kg and men’s 80kg divisions. Meanwhile, the men’s 63.5kg and the men’s 71kg divisions will each have five quotas on offer.

This is also the final qualifying event for the Olympics in boxing. The qualification period ends on May 31.

The National Olympic Committees (NOC) have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games. Athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their respective delegation at Paris 2024.
