Indian rowers will aim to secure Paris 2024 quotas in the men’s pair (M2-) and the men’s four (M4-) events at the World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta 2024 in Lucerne, Switzerland from Sunday.

The final Paris 2024 Olympic qualifying event in rowing will see 147 boats across 14 Olympic boat classes compete for 30 quota places. A-Final races will be live streamed on May 21.

There are two quota places in each Olympic boat class except for the men’s and women’s single sculls, which have a third quota place on offer due to the reallocation of the host country quota places.

Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish will represent India in the M4- boat class. The same Indian quartet won the bronze medal at the Asian Games last year and produced its best-ever result at a World Cup, finishing fourth in the first stage last year.

Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram, who also won the bronze medal at the Asian Games last year, will look to secure a quota for India in the men’s pair.

Balraj Panwar secured India’s first Paris 2024 quota in rowing after winning the bronze medal in the men’s single sculls (M1x) event at the Asian and Oceania Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta in the Republic of Korea last month. Olympic quotas were on offer to the top five finishers in the men’s single sculls in South Korea.

National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games. Athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.

The World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta will conclude on May 21.
