World War II veteran Andrew Winnegar celebrates 100th birthday at Silent Wings Museum

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Saturday was a very special day for one area veteran – his 100th birthday.

Andrew Winnegar served our country in the Navy during World War II.

He also served our community, by dedicating much of his time to the Texas South Plains Honor Flight.

Winnegar first went on the Honor Flight in 2012 and has been part of the organization ever since.

There was a huge celebration for his 100th birthday Saturday night at the Silent Wings Museum, with a Mariachi band and many from our community, including KCBD’s Kase Wilbanks and Christy Hartin, celebrating this milestone.
