WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY RACEWAY NEW ADDITION TO 2025 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES SCHEDULE – World Wide Technology Raceway

200-lap race on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 will be the first Xfinity Series event at the venue since 2010

Weekend also will feature World Wide Technology Raceway’s first-ever NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race on Sunday, Sept. 7

MADISON, Ill. (Aug. 29, 2024) –  World Wide Technology Raceway will be a new addition to the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule beginning in 2025, with the 1.25-mile oval based in Madison, Ill. hosting the national series event on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Today’s schedule announcement by NASCAR signals the long-anticipated return of the Xfinity Series to World Wide Technology Raceway after a 14-year absence. The motorsports facility hosted 15 Xfinity Series races from 1997-2010, including a pair in that final season.

The return in 2025 will be a 200-lap, 250-mile event from the second tier of NASCAR’s three-level national series that will be nationally televised live on The CW, the new exclusive home of the Xfinity Series through 2031.

“Ever since I purchased and reopened the track, one of the most-asked questions has been ‘When will the Xfinity Series come back?’” World Wide Technology Raceway owner and CEO Curtis Francois said. “I’m happy to finally share with our loyal fans that they are coming back in 2025. We greatly appreciate NASCAR’s willingness to reunite us with the Xfinity Series, which previously had been a staple and fan favorite at this facility.”

The addition of the Xfinity Series event comes the same day of World Wide Technology Raceway’s historic announcement that its 2025 Cup Series event will be part of the NASCAR Playoffs’ 10-race format. The 240-lap Enjoy Illinois 300 will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, to culminate an exciting three days of NASCAR racing with the Xfinity Series and the Confluence Music Festival.

The previous Xfinity Series races at World Wide Technology Raceway have served as a proving ground for several eventual NASCAR Hall of Fame drivers and Cup Series champions. Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards all have Xfinity Series wins at WWTR on their illustrious resumes. Other notable Hall of Famers and Cup champions who competed in the series at WWTR include Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Bobby Labonte, Terry Labonte and Matt Kenseth.

“World Wide Technology Raceway’s list of Xfinity Series winners and participants proves that this truly is one of the tracks where legends are born,” Francois said. “Our track is perfectly designed for intense racing action and each event always generated a tremendous amount of excitement and drama, both on and off the track.”

The Xfinity Series, then known as the Busch Series with St. Louis icon Anheuser-Busch as the title sponsor, not only produced incredible highlights for the track and its fans, but some stand out as great moments in NASCAR history. One of the legendary battles occurred in the July 2010 event where Edwards and Keselowski staged an epic green-white-checkered shootout to the finish. Approaching the checkered flag, the two cars made contact that resulted in Edwards taking the win and Keselowski’s crippled car triggering a massive, multi-car pile-up at the finish line. The battle ignited a rivalry between the two that continued until Edwards retired in 2017.

The return to the St. Louis region is particularly welcomed by Xfinity Series veteran driver Justin Allgaier, who was born in Spaulding, Ill., and raised in nearby Riverton. Allgaier, who drives the No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, is in his 15th season and owns 25 career victories along with 10 poles, including one at World Wide Technology Raceway in 2010.

“It’s great to know that we are going back to World Wide Technology Raceway with the NASCAR Xfinity Series,” said Allgaier, a four-time NXS Most Popular Driver. “To be able to race so close to home is incredibly special to not only myself, but to my family, friends and to BRANDT Professional Agriculture. This place is right in our backyards and I can’t wait to get there next year.”
