World’s highest-paid actor: He didn’t give a single hit in 5 years, yet earned $73 million in 2023; No he is not Shah Rukh Khan or Tom Cruise | – Times of India
The entertainment industry is packed with several versatile and dedicated actors who gave their lives to acting. From Tom Cruise to Dwayne Johnson, from Shah Rukh Khan to Amitabh Bachchan, the names of these stars have been etched in the pages of history for their impressive work profile. However, when it comes to the highest-paid actor, none of these names tops the list. As of 2023, the highest-paid actor is someone who doesn’t have a box office success under his belt for half a decade. We are talking about the ‘Murder Mystery’ star Adam Sandler.
The actor-producer, known for ruling the comic genre of Hollywood in the 90s and 2000s, with his four projects earned $73 million in 2023, becoming the world’s highest-paid actor of the year according to Forbes.
In 2023, he acted in three movies and produced one and each of them gave him great returns. His ‘Murder Mystery 2’ with Jennifer Anniston, was highly loved by the audience, and then his supporting role in ‘You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,’ was also appreciated. Both the movies were released on one of the leading OTT platforms – Netflix. He gave his voice to the titular character in the animated movie ‘Leo’ and produced Adam Devine’s ‘Out-Laws’. He was a producer in the movies in which he acted ensured he gets a share of digital sales revenue. And all this added up to his whopping income.
Interestingly, as aforementioned, Adam Sandler didn’t have a theatrical hit for five years. His last box office hit was ‘Uncut Gems,’ a 2019 movie that was made on a $19 million budget and collected $50 million. On the other hand, his 2024 film ‘Spaceman’ failed to get the title of a commercial success.
Nevertheless, with his OTT releases, he beat everyone to the curb. Even Margot Robbie, who was one of the headliners in 2023 with ‘Barbie’ making $59 million, couldn’t outrun him.
