World’s longest yard sale under way across Ohio
HAMILTON, Ohio — If you’re looking for a bargain, the ‘World’s Longest Yard Sale’ is happening across the state.
One of those stops is in Hamilton. At ‘Pleasant Treasures’ flea market, the owner says there’s more than 100 vendors signed up between the outside and inside the market.
All of those vendors who are a part of the sale set up shop Thursday at the start of the event, and the bargain shoppers were following close behind.
From hard to find antiques to bargain clothes, there’s a huge variety of secondhand treasures laid out on countless tables. Some of the vendors say they’ve been getting ready for this all year.
“We put away things that we know we’re not going to use, and then we make things,” Vendor Frances Gilbert said. “All of these things here, we make these by hand.”
Some shoppers are already finding the deals.
“Never know what you are going to find,” Shopper Cynthia Briscoe said. “It’s always a surprise, and I think that’s the excitement for them.”
“Even if you don’t buy it, it’s cool just to see it, you know, see things from different eras before they were born to know, you know, see what the other stuff was like before them,” said shopper Olivia Stewart.
The point of the yard sales is not just for shoppers and vendors but also has the hope of getting more families taking the scenic route and seeing other things to do like state parks and attractions in different small towns and cities.
The yard sales run along route 127 and go through six states from Michigan to Alabama.
The sales will be going on all at the same time through Sunday. There’ll be 690 miles of sales.
