WTAMU faculty to present research on women in business

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – A trio of West Texas A&M University faculty will present and discuss their research about female business leaders.

“Her Business Story: Narratives of Women Business Leaders of the Texas Panhandle” focuses on inspiring women who are interested in the business field.

Dr. Leslie Ramos Salazar, Dr. Jillian Williamson Yarbrough and Dr. Elaina Cantrell Robinson will showcase their findings.

The research team interviewed women leaders in order to learn about their challenges in owning a company or organization.

“It is really get to know this woman, know their story and know their background and see in what‘s making this woman successful and how could we use that to the benefit of other women who are barely starting out or doubting themselves or are thinking, ’Huh what if I started a business?‘,” said Dr. Leslie Ramos Salazar, professor of business communication at WTAMU.

According to faculty, women got to share various resources and skills they needed in order to be successful in rural communities.

“I think we are recovering from the pandemic and I think as a business professor, we are thinking about opportunities that we can present,” said Dr. Jillian Williamson Yarbrough, Virginia Engler professor of management at WTAMU.

The trio won an Engler Societal Impact Research Grant in order to make this all possible. This grant will help fund projects that fulfill a significant need in the Texas Panhandle Region.

The event will take place on Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m. and reservations can be made here.

The event is free and open to the public.
