YMCA gears up for 12th annual Youth Sports Adventure Run

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The family-friendly day of energetic fun is almost here in the capital city.

The YMCA is hosting its 12th annual Youth Sports Adventure Run, where children and their parents or guardians will go through over 30 obstacle courses at Wright Park.

Children as young as five years old will participate in a color run, agility ladder, dugout maze, and more spread across nearly two miles of the park.

The Y said over 250 participants have registered for the event which will help sponsor needs in the community.

When families register for the run, proceeds go to the YMCA’s Open Doors Financial Assistance program. It helps families, children, and adults obtain quality child care, youth programs, and health and wellness services at center locations.

YMCA raised more than $750,000 at last year’s run, helping nearly 6,500 people in the community.

With this year’s turnout being the largest they’ve had, they expect to reach more folks in Lincoln in need of help.

Registration for the Adventure Run is closed online, but if you would like to participate, a few spots are open and you can register at the event.

The event is on Saturday, July 6 at YMCA Wright Park.

Courses will be running in three separate groups, starting at 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 10:30 a.m.
