You Can Now Book Southwest Flights Via Chase Travel—And Earn Rapid Rewards Points While Doing So
To book a Southwest flight via Chase, log in to your account on the Chase Travel web page or select “Book travel” on the “Benefits & travel” tab in the Chase mobile app. Select “Flights” and input your origin, destination, preferred travel dates, number of travelers and fare class.
After searching for flights, you’ll see any Southwest Airlines routes displayed. You can also filter your search results by airline, and Southwest will now be an option if routes are available for your inputted route.
Only Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares will be displayed, but after selecting the flight, you can view prices for Anytime and Business Select fares.
When it comes to checking out, you’ll have the option to pay for the cash value of the flight with your card, pay using Ultimate Rewards points or pay using a combination of both. For Chase Travel bookings, Ultimate Rewards points are generally worth 1 cent per point. However, select Chase cardholders get more value per point, which makes the option of booking Southwest flights through Chase an appealing option.
For example, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card cardholders get 1.25 cents per point toward travel through Chase Travel while Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders get 1.5 cents per point in value.
The final step of your booking is inputting your passenger information. On this screen, you can add your Southwest Rapid Rewards number to your reservation, allowing you to earn Rapid Rewards points and tier qualifying points for your booking. This also makes booking Southwest flights through Chase Travel more enticing, as you wouldn’t earn additional Rapid Reward points if you were to transfer your Ultimate Rewards to the airline and redeem them directly on Southwest’s website.
