Mercury in Scorpio faces off with Uranus this evening, giving today a hectic, unpredictable energy. New information could challenge your preconceptions, people could surprise you, and plans could go off course. The more you resist change, the more stressed you’ll be — but if you’re willing to adapt and change your mind, the day could be thrilling, illuminating, and even fun.
You might be a bit reckless with your money today, tempted to throw it around without thinking. It’s hard to stay disciplined all the time, and the more you try to stick to your plans, the more you might struggle. But while you might ultimately regret spending on random stuff for yourself, you won’t be sorry for any impulsive generosity you show to others. If you give what you can to people who need your help, your impulsivity could make the world — and your own life — better.
Most of the time, you try to think before you speak. It isn’t that you’re shy, you just want to be careful to say only what you truly mean. Today, though, you might be more eager than usual to jump into conversations, offering up partially formed ideas and strong opinions you only half believe in. Don’t be too proud to apologize if you say something you regret, but don’t try to shut yourself up either — that’ll only make you more antsy to share what’s on your mind, and anyway, some of your spontaneous ideas will turn out to be great ones.
You’ve been doing your best to trust the process, to have faith that the projects you’re working on will come to fruition. Intellectually at least, you understand that you can’t force life to move faster — today, though, it’s difficult not to feel anxious. You’ve worked so hard, and the finish line still seems so far. But trying to find shortcuts now is only likely to make the journey longer. It’s tempting to rush — you’re hyperaware that your time is finite — but staying patient will serve you better in the end.
Lately, you’ve been waiting for something — an encounter, a conversation, an invitation to adventure — to arrive and transform your life. You recognize that most change happens bit by bit over time, so slowly that you hardly notice it happening, but you’re hungry for something more dramatic than that. Today, you might finally have the excitement you’ve been looking for, but it probably won’t look the way you anticipated, so keep an open mind.
The annoying thing about being an adult is all of the adult responsibilities that fall on your shoulders — there are so many tasks and errands on your plate right now, and no one to take care of them but you. But today, the more you try to focus on your responsibilities and block out all distractions, the more your day is likely to spiral out of your control. Instead, try accepting that it won’t all go smoothly and that you’ll have to endure some unexpected stress and irritation. In exchange, you’ll get some unexpected joy, too.
Today, you might find it practically impossible to mind your own business. If your friends are arguing, you immediately want to take sides; if someone says something untrue, you feel a powerful urge to step in and correct them. Sometimes, it’s important to get involved, but right now, it’s just as likely to be a petty issue that has nothing to do with you. Your challenge now isn’t to subdue your fighting spirit, but simply to pick your battles. There are plenty of them that do matter; don’t waste your energy one the ones that don’t.
Maybe it’s felt, lately, like you’ve been getting close to making an important decision. You’ve done your research, discussed it with the important people in your life, thought carefully about it on your own. Today, though, the arrival of new information might complicate everything and raise doubts. You might worry that you’ll seem “difficult” if, after all that work, you suddenly ask for more time to think — but don’t let anybody rush you. Sometimes you need to slow down the process, even to go back to the drawing board entirely.
You’re stubborn about making up your own mind — but in trying to stay independent, it’s possible to isolate yourself and miss out on valuable input from others. Today, especially, your friends might challenge your conclusions, or show you alternatives that you didn’t notice on your own. Your first reaction might be to get defensive, but try to keep an open mind and listen. The more you take in what others are saying — whether or not you ultimately agree with them — the stronger your own thinking will be.
It might be hard to hear yourself think today. You’re so busy with your own work, everyone else is clamoring to make their voices heard, and there’s hardly a moment to catch your breath. On days like this, it doesn’t seem like you’re learning, just scrambling to keep your head above water. The truth, though, is that you’re observing, picking up on important details, meeting smart and interesting people. You might not recognize the value of any of it until later, but trust that important things are happening, even if you can’t feel it yet.
Some people constantly waffle over their goals for the future, never fully committing to anything. You, though, recognize the value of staying the course; if you deviate from your plans as soon as something more exciting comes along, you’ll never get anywhere. Just remember that there’s nothing wrong with making the occasional adjustment. Today, especially, the more you’re willing to adapt, the better off you’ll be. It doesn’t mean you’re not steadfast and determined, it only means you’re smart.
You might be feeling anxious about doing things “wrong” — breaking the unwritten social rules, failing to live up to others’ expectations, making choices you’ll regret in the future. Today, the harder you try to color inside the lines, the more you’ll stress yourself out. So instead of trying to follow the rules, make it your goal instead to break them with intention. As long as you’re living up to your own personal code, you won’t need to worry about everyone else.
You often know where a conversation will go even before it gets started. Maybe it’s because you’re intuitive, or maybe everyone else is just predictable — either way, you’re often bored. Today, though, interactions with others could branch out in unexpected directions. People might push you to clarify your thinking, to be more honest, to open up. They might introduce new ideas you’d never considered before. Leave space for others to act in interesting and unpredictable ways, and they will.
