Your First Alert: Dense Fog Advisory Impacts Overnight Travel
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Dense Fog Advisory will go into effect tonight across all of eastern Iowa.
Your First Alert: Dense fog overnight
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM Monday morning. Dense fog will drop visibilities as low as a quarter mile at times.
If you’re out driving and encounter fog, drive slowly and turn on your low beams. Also allow extra stopping and following space for vehicles in front of you. A stray shower is also possible this evening especially in our southern areas as a weak front passes through, but any rain that falls will be scattered and light. Lows tonight fall into the low to mid 30s.
Sunnier & mild on monday, stray shower in the morning
Monday begins with foggy conditions and the chance for a stray shower during the morning hours. A few wet snowflakes may mix in with any showers that occur. Skies become partly cloudy during the afternoon as highs climb into the low to mid 40s. Winds are out of the west and could gust over 20 mph at times. We are mostly clear Monday night as lows fall into the mid 20s.
Falling temperatures and precip chances this week
Temperatures begin to fall after Monday and highs are in the upper 30s on Tuesday. The rest of the week features high temperatures in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s with lows in the teens and low 20s. A couple of clipper systems are expected to pass by eastern Iowa and bring slight chances for snow this week. The first one arrives Tuesday night, and has the potential to bring light snow showers to the area. We are dry by Wednesday afternoon. The next one arrives Thursday into Thursday night and has the potential to bring another round of scattered snow showers to the area. Stayt tuned for updates as we get more details with regards to exact timing and impacts with these systems over the next couple of days.
